STEPHENVILLE, Texas — The Tarleton State University Stock Horse Team captured its second straight world title recently at the SHTX Western Horseman Stock Horse World Show in Abilene.
Tarleton’s team — Audrey Whitehead, Katlyn Humphreys, Shadee Tye, Adam Baxter and Khyman Taylor — won in the Collegiate Division II category.
Standout performances by Tarleton Intermediate Division riders included Whitehead, who took third overall in the division, second in the ranch pleasure event, third in reining and seventh in working cow horse; and Humphreys who claimed sixth in the overall standings, first in ranch pleasure and third in working cow horse.
In addition, Tye captured seventh in working cow horse and was 15th overall in the Novice Division.
“The awards and rankings are the icing on the cake,” said team coach Bobbie Walton, “but, more importantly, I’m proud of the way the team members are embracing their journey toward becoming better equestrians, stewards of the horse and human beings.”
