STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Sitting alongside more than 100 Tarleton State University faithful in Wisdom Gym Sunday night, the newly crowned champions of the Lone Star Conference (LSC) Tournament watched as their names were called by the NCAA to compete in the national tournament for the seventh time in school history and the first time under head coach Misty Wilson.

“We’re so excited,” Wilson said after the NCAA selection show. “Our girls played their hearts out this weekend to earn this chance to compete at the regional tournament, and I’m so proud of them. We know that Colorado State-Pueblo is a very good team because we’ve played them once this year, but we’re going to get back to work and get ready for our next opportunity.”

Tarleton earned an automatic berth into the 64-team playoff field after winning its second LSC Championship Tournament title over Angelo State on Sunday. The TexAnns erased a 17-point, first-quarter deficit to take down the Rambelles, the defending LSC tourney champs. The victory marked Tarleton’s second LSC tournament championship in program history and the first since 2012.

The TexAnns were granted the No. 8 seed in the national tournament where they will see a familiar face from earlier this season—Colorado State-Pueblo.

This year marks the Tarleton TexAnns’ first trip to the NCAA postseason since 2014, when they advanced to the round of 32.

The TexAnns will head to Pueblo, Colo., this week and begin the tournament Friday evening, March 10. More information regarding game times, tournament information and ticket prices will be available at www.tarletonsports.com.
