STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Tarleton State University’s 14th annual Excellence in Teaching Conference is set for Feb. 9 in the Dick Smith Library.
The event, sponsored by the Center for Instructional Innovation at Tarleton, is for faculty and staff from all campuses of the Texas A&M University System and local community colleges.
Presenters will share high-impact teaching practices for peer review and teaching methods to help overcome challenges in diverse learning environments.
The scope of the conference includes but is not limited to:
• Motivating students
• Increasing student engagement
• Teaching Generation Next
• Great icebreakers
• Creating/designing learning objectives
• Assessing student performance
• Examples of group activities
• Measuring student learning
• Presenting learning material using technology
• Useful websites for research
• Mobile learning for next generation
• Audio and video for teaching and learning
• Using the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning to improve teaching
• Innovative use of technology to enhance student learning.
“A Focus on First-Generation Student Success” is the topic of the luncheon, featuring keynote speaker Dr. Edward Burger, president of Southwestern University. The luncheon takes place in the ballrooms of the Thompson Student Center.
