Tarleton’s ‘Hire-A-Texan’ powered by Handshake ready for students, alumni

STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Now powered by Handshake, Tarleton State University Career Services’ hiring system—Hire-A-Texan—is ready for students and alumni to access via their school email accounts.

Currently more than 6 million students, 350 universities and 180,000 employers partner with the mobile-friendly Handshake platform that features personalized job recommendations.

Students currently registered for classes at Tarleton already have a Handshake account and can claim it via an invitation sent to their university email account. Alumni also can use their Tarleton email to access the new system or request a Handshake account if they have a different email address.

With Handshake’s online appointment system, students can set up meetings with Tarleton’s Career Services staff for help with resumes, job searches, social media profiles and e-portfolios.

To schedule mock interviews, students should visit the following Career Services Center locations or call 254-968-9078:

• Barry A. Thompson Student Center, Room 218, Stephenville;
• College of Business Administration, Room 185C, Stephenville;
• Lamar Johanson Science Building, Room 331, Stephenville;
• Hickman Building, Room 123B, Tarleton-Fort Worth, 6777 Camp Bowie Blvd.

Business hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
