STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Dr. Deborah Liles, Tarleton State University’s W.K. Gordon Center Endowed Chair in Texas History, will discuss using probate documents for genealogical and academic research at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, at the W. K. Gordon Museum and Research Center for the Industrial History of Texas in Thurber. A Q&A session will follow.
The free presentation, part of the Gordon Center’s Tuesday Talks series, will illustrate what happens to property when the owner dies. Dr. Liles’ experience at delving into probate records provides a fascinating glimpse into the lives of individuals as well as how to apply this data to research projects.
Participants are urged to bring their own research for tips on more rewarding exploration. For more information call 254-968-1886 or email gordoncenter@tarleton.edu.
