Institutional Review Board (IRB)

All research using human subjects, including paper-pencil questionnaires and surveys to collect data, must be approved by the Institutional Review Board (IRB). The university could suffer serious sanctions, including withdrawal of all federal funding, if the appropriate committee approval is not obtained before research begins.

The university's IRB is registered with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service. Completed applications for IRB approval should be submitted to Clayton Gillespie through the Office of Research and Innovation, Tarleton Center, Rm 213, Box T-0015. You can contact Mr. Gillespie by phone at 254-968-1815 or email
