Campus Carry: Senate Bill 11 authorizes concealed campus carry only by license holders, that is, people who received the state-mandated training and met other statutory requirements for a license to carry a concealed handgun. Learn more about the Campus Carry Law.
Campaign for a Safer Tarleton: University Police Department, consisting of up to 19 full-time, state certified, peace officers working to inform the Tarleton community about safety related issues through print materials and officer presentations.
Self Defense Program: A FREE self-defense program for faculty, staff, student and community members.
Motorist Assists: Free vehicle unlocks and jumpstarts for faculty, staff and students on campus.
Operation Inventory: Free forms and instructions, for Tarleton students, to safeguard personal property against theft. Students are encouraged to register their bikes and other valuable, personal belongings like electronic devices.
Campus Crime Stoppers: Means of communication for members of the public to anonymously provide law enforcement agencies with information on crimes or suspects. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $200.00. The contact number is 254-965-2274 (965-CASH)
Safety Escorts: Walking or shuttle escorts are available for students after 7:00 pm until daylight, while school is in session, by contacting 254-968-9265. Student safety ambassadors or Tarleton Police Officers will respond to service requests. If already on a call, there might be a delay in response time. This service is not intended to discourage individuals from walking in groups.
After Hours Building Permits: To create a safer community, Tarleton’s Police Officers check the buildings across campus. To be in a building, after scheduled class times (frequently 9:00 pm on weekdays), it is necessary to request permission using the After Hours Building Permit Form. Submitted forms must be signed by faculty, reviewed and approved by the Police Department. A copy of the approved permit will be returned to be kept on your person while in the designated building after hours. Tarleton Police will check for permits as they patrol buildings.
Fingerprinting: This service is offered between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday when the university is open, for members of the Tarleton community.
Event Requests: If your department or student organization is planning an event where police presence is requested, please submit an online Event Request Form. Please submit your event, for review, through the office of Risk Management & Compliance.

Lost and Found

The Tarleton State University Police Department is the central depository for all lost and found property on the TSU campus.

The University Police collects, accepts, stores, releases and disposes of abandoned and found property. Diligent attempts are made to reunite found property with the proper owner. Abandoned property collected by Tarleton Police will be kept in a secure, onsite location for thirty (30) days, noting when and where the property was discovered. Unclaimed property that has been held for thirty (30) days will be forwarded to Central Receiving, with the accompanying documentation, for continued storage and final disposition. Persons claiming property must present valid government-issued identification or a Texan Card.

There is a 24hr secured lost and found drop box located inside the first set of doors at the Tarleton Police Station, any individual that finds an item is encouraged to drop the item off within a timely manner.

The lost and found is located inside the Tarleton Police Station at 895 N Harbin Street, Stephenville, Texas 76401. Hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday.
