Find the personal guidance you need!
Finding the right person to talk to at the right time to get the guidance you need is sometimes hard to figure out. This page is is here to help!
Before seeking out an advisor, remember there are different types of advisors designed to fit your specific needs:
Academic Advising Specialists guide you through choosing the courses required in both your degree and by the health professional or graduate schools to which you will apply. These are the advisors you meet with, usually each semester, to plan out your schedule of classes, change your degree plan, discuss course substitutions or overrides. Course sequencing and course combinations can, and should, be tailored for each student depending on prior coursework. Our skilled and helpful Academic Advising Specialists are here to help you. Try to plan to meet with your academic advisor early in the semester. The closer it gets to registration opening date, the harder it becomes to find convenient time slots to schedule with them. Below is the contact information for the two Academic Advising Specialists assigned to COSM . Make an appointment by calling the number listed below or clicking on their name to e-mail.

Faculty Consultants are the faculty you encounter in your Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Math classes. Get to know them. There is a good chance you will need to ask one or more of them for a letter of recommendation one day. Just being in their class and earning a good grade never provides enough knowledge about you to write a truly supportive letter. They have a wealth of experience and knowledge and you should take advantage of it. As you get to know your faculty, you should consult with them on how you are doing in the class, what they do for research, and what opportunities they might have for you to be involved in research. Seek advice and feedback from them and act on that advice.
