Dear Tarleton Family:
I am pleased to announce that after an extensive process five of Tarleton’s official marks have been registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, increasing our national prominence as an NCAA Division I university and aligning with the goals of our 10-year strategic plan.
I can’t tell you the number of times that people across the country have recognized our institution by the logo on my Tarleton lapel pin. We are a university on the move.
Both the long and short versions of our name — Tarleton and Tarleton State University — the “T” in Texas logo (purple and black) and the Texan Rider are registered in multiple classes, giving us full ownership and exclusive rights to their use. Note that the registration symbol ® now replaces the ™ on our marks.
Special gratitude goes to the A&M System Office of General Counsel and Tarleton’s Division of University Strategy for the long hours and hard work it took to achieve USPTO registration. University Strategy (Marketing and Communications Department) works closely with retailers, student organizations, and others to protect and promote proper use of our marks.
Thanks to the creativity and diligence of our MarCom team, Tarleton’s fiscal 2021 royalties are the largest ever, licensed Tarleton merchandise is available at Rally House locations throughout DFW, and Disney and Life is Good offer a Tarleton-branded lineup at the Texans Campus Store.
Homecoming is a great week to wear your Tarleton purple and white. Do so with pride. Our marks belong to us.
