Board of Regents Special Telephonic Meeting

University Community,

In a special telephonic meeting today, The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents approved several measures affecting Tarleton.

The Board approved the university budget of $165 million for the approaching fiscal year and as well as an increase in the cap on the number of our full-time equivalent (FTE) faculty and staff positions from 565 to 640.

The Regents also approved the appointment of Dr. Steve Steed as Dean of the College of Business Administration, effective immediately.  Steve has been a faculty member for the past 44 years and a full professor since 1995.  In addition to having chaired two separate departments in the college, he also has served as interim dean.  We are pleased that he has accepted this leadership role.

The Board granted tenure to Dr. Walter F. “Frank” Owsley who joins Tarleton this fall as Professor of Animal Science and Veterinary Technology.  Dr. Owsley, a member of the Auburn University faculty since 1990, holds his Ph.D. from Texas Tech University and also previously taught at the University of Georgia.  We welcome Dr. Owsley.

I am very appreciative of these actions of the Board of Regents as we prepare to enter our new academic year.  These positive developments will aid us in keeping our eyes on the university’s vision to become the premier student-focused university in Texas and beyond.

F. Dominic Dottavio, Ph.D.
