In alignment with Tarleton’s commitment to real-world learning and regional engagement, the university’s Division of Research signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Texas General Land Office–Community Development and Revitalization (GLO-CDR). This partnership awarded Tarleton a contract to place four graduate students and two undergraduates in a specialized internship program. As one of only three universities selected—alongside UT Austin and Texas A&M.
Madison Claridy was selected for the GLO internship program, which offers real-world experience in key areas like grant management, stakeholder communication, and community development. The Texas General Land Office (GLO) is a state agency responsible for managing public lands, supporting disaster recovery, and overseeing community development programs across Texas. Following her impressive performance during the program, she has recently accepted a full-time position as Grant Specialist I.
In this new role, Claridy will serve as a key point of contact for public stakeholders, engaging with them via phone and email to address concerns and provide support. She will research stakeholder issues, coordinate with various teams to reach resolutions, and draft formal correspondence to ensure clear and effective communication.
Claridy’s responsibilities will also include facilitating meetings with program staff, vendors, builders and sub-recipients throughout the resolution process. Her role is essential in promoting transparency, responsiveness and collaboration across all levels of engagement.
Additionally, Claridy will contribute to organizing and maintaining the team’s document storage databases, ensuring accurate record-keeping and efficient information management. She will also be cross-trained in weekly and project reporting, providing critical support to her team’s ongoing efforts.
Join us in congratulating Claridy on her new role and celebrating her successful transition from an intern to being full-time on the GLO-CDR team!
