About Oscar P
Legend has it that John Tarleton had a pet duck named Oscar P and the two were inseparable! These days you can find Oscar P immortalized at Alumni Island but also online! Oscar P appears both as a chatbot in some of the university pages, and as a text message assistant who will text current students important information.
Oscar P relies on a knowledge base that is maintained and updated by Student Retention. Please email retention@tarleton.edu if you have any questions.
Who receives Oscar P text messages?
All undergraduate students will receive Oscar P texts unless opted out. If you are a current student, we highly recommend that you save the number in your phone contacts so that you don’t miss out on important reminders! The Department of Student Retention will conduct outreach via Oscar P to inform students of university events, registration reminders and deadlines, financial information, and even wellness campaigns.
Can students opt-out of receiving text messages?
Students can pause text messages from Oscar P using the #pause command. Students may opt out completely by using the STOP command. This may be undone by replying START.
