What is Code Purple?
Code Purple is an emergency notification that allows Tarleton State University to quickly communicate health and safety-related emergency information via text message or email.
What is e2Campus?
Code Purple is powered by the e2Campus mass notification system. The e2Campus solution allows designated university administrators to send time-sensitive messages to the mobile phones, emails, and/or pagers of Code Purple subscribers regardless of geographical location.
Will I receive unsolicited messages (“SPAM”) on my mobile phone or email account?
No. Code Purple and e2Campus enforces a “Zero Spam” policy that clearly prohibits unsolicited messages. Furthermore, e2Campus cannot or will not sell the contact information of Code Purple subscribers to third party marketers. However, if you are blocking spam, your cellphone provider may have shortcode text messages sent from our official emergency notification provider, e2Campus, on the blocked list. Please make sure your cell phone provider allows our shortcode numbers 795-16 and 703-59.
Will this cost me anything?
Maybe. Depending on your wireless carrier provider and the plan you have, you may be charged a nominal fee (i.e ten cents per message) to receive SMS text messages. For those with unlimited text messaging plans, there would be no additional charge.
What is a selective mass notification system?
A selective mass notification system is defined as a platform to deliver a notification to an entire audience by all means necessary; therefore creating comprehensive coverage to increase the odds that a particular subscriber received the notification in a timely manner. Subscribers can be notified immediately by text message or email based on their notification preferences.
What is a notification?
A notification is defined as a form of communication that delivers descriptive information about news or an event, unlike a bell or siren that communicates little information. For Code Purple, a notification will arrive in the form of a text message or email, based on your message delivery selections.

Can I change my contact preferences?
Yes. You can change your notifications by logging into e2Campus using the following username and password:

You can complete the following items:
- Click on the SERVICES tab to add personal or other cell phone numbers(s) and other email addresses to your account. All numbers and email addresses will be notified in the event of an emergency.
- Click on the GROUPS tab and select the Tarleton campus notifications that you are requesting notifications.
- Click on the ACCOUNT tab and create a unique password for your account.
- Click on the ACCOUNT tab and opt out of the notifications by selecting the box under Account Terminating stating you agree to terminate your account and click Terminate Account Now.
How do I opt-out (remove myself) from receiving e2Campus alerts?
To opt-out, simply by logging into e2Campus using the following username and password:

- To opt-out entirely, click on the ACCOUNT tab and opt out of the notifications by selecting the box under Account Termination stating that you agree to terminate your account, and click Terminate Account Now.
- To opt-out of email alerts only or SMS alerts only, click on the SERVICES tab to add/remove personal or other cell phone numbers(s) and other email addresses to your account.
Unless you want to stop receiving emergency notification text messages, do not reply to a Code Purple message with the word "STOP".
How do I control how I receive notifications?
If you are a faculty, staff or student at Tarleton State University, you have been registered with Code Purple, our Emergency Notification System, through your Tarleton assigned email address only. You can choose whether you want to receive notifications via cell phone text message or by email. You can also specify one other alternate contact number and email address.
Please make sure your cell phone provider allows these short code text messages to be sent from our official emergency notification provider, e2Campus. Our shortcode numbers are 795-16 and 703-59. Unless you want to stop receiving emergency notifications text messages, do not reply to a Code Purple text message with the word “STOP”.
Using Code Purple
Do I need to install software on my phone?
No. E2Campus uses industry-standard SMS text messaging protocol to send messages to your phone. Your mobile phone plan will need to accept text messages to work properly. Please make sure your cell phone provider allows these short code text messages to be sent from our official emergency notification provider, e2Campus. Our shortcode numbers are 795-16 and 703-59. Unless you want to stop receiving emergency notification text messages, do not reply to a Code Purple text message with the word “STOP”.
