- Tarleton State University (Tarleton) protects and monitors against the effects of denial-of-service events and employs the following controls to achieve the denial-of-service objective by:
- Having all Tarleton networks reside behind layers of network defense systems;
- Utilizing redundant internet connections to minimize the risk of denial-of-service attacks;
- Enabling network security systems (i.e., firewalls) that block inbound traffic requests that exceed a reasonable threshold within a given amount of time that provide alerts to network administration personnel of the incident;
- Designing locally hosted mission critical information resources that are accessible only from within the Tarleton network during periods of degraded network connectivity; and
- Having cloud-based mission-critical information resources served by redundant data centers to provide continuous access during degraded network connectivity.
