Honoring Loved Ones Through Candlelight
Each year, our community comes together in a heartfelt tribute to honor and remember those who have left a lasting impact on our Tarleton State family. We invite families to take part in this meaningful tradition by carrying a candle in remembrance of their loved one. Students, faculty, and staff are also encouraged to participate as a show of support and unity.
During the ceremony, each participant will receive a lighted candle and the name of an honoree. As each name is read aloud from the Honor Roll, candle bearers will walk together to the John Tarleton statue, creating a warm and glowing tribute that symbolizes the love and legacy of those we remember
After “Taps” is played and a 21-gun salute, candle bearers will extinguish the flame they carry upon the ceremony reading,
“You are the sons and daughters of Tarleton.
Your flame has burned long and well with those of this great brotherhood and sisterhood.
Tonight we remember and lay your flame to rest.”
If you are interested in serving as a candle bearer, please complete the form below. For questions, you may contact the Office of Alumni Engagement at 254-968-9682 or alumni@tarleton.edu.
