The Bachelor of Science in Applied Sociology at Tarleton State University is designed to prepare you to recognize and adapt to social change by equipping you with the lasting and transferable skills employers are seeking. Coursework focuses on developing skills like critical thinking, effective communication, data analysis, and intercultural competency and applying these skills in real-world contexts. With these skills, our graduates are working in a range of career fields and occupations. And Applied Sociology is great preparation for graduate school, too!

Tarleton has access to the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR).

ICPSR is an international consortium of more than 750 academic institutions research organizations and provides leadership and data access, curation, and methods of analysis for the social science research community. ICPSR maintains a data archive of more than 250,000 files of research in the social and behavioral sciences. It hosts 21 specialized collections of data in education, aging, criminal justice, substance abuse, terrorism and other fields.

Tarleton’s Sociology Club

Tarleton’s Sociology Club was founded in 1995 as a resource for students interested in broadening their sociological knowledge. The Sociology Club facilitates the open discussion of important events and social phenomena and welcomes all students. For more information, contact Dr. Derek Lehman.
