Staff Senate Committees

Staff Senate committees include membership from the Staff Senate Representatives as well as non-representatives. If you are interested in assisting any of the committees below, contact the Staff Senate President or the chairs below.

Staff Engagement

Staff Engagement Committee consists of the following sub-committees:

Scholarship: This sub-committee awards scholarships to Tarleton State University staff members continuing their education through graduate or undergraduate courses at the university.

Staff Appreciation: This sub-committee focuses on activities to recognize and demonstrate appreciation for university staff.

Fundraising: This sub-committee is responsible for the Holiday Showcase and for obtaining a door prize giveaway for each Senate meeting.

Staff Development: This sub-committee coordinates activities for professional development and training while working to identify practices and activities that sustain a positive working partnership between staff and the university.

Grants: This sub-committee awards grands for travel or fees related to conference attendance and other professional development activities.


Operations

The Operations Committee consists of the following sub-committees:

Parliamentarian: This sub-committee annually reviews and revises the governing documents (with feedback from the Executive Board and Staff Senate). It also reviews the committees, reviews resolution proposals that will be brought forth to the Executive Board, and provides guidelines for continuing meetings following Robert’s Rules of Order.

Employee Benchmarking: This sub-committee evaluates and recommends practices to promote staff learning, development, education, well-being, motivation, and satisfaction.

Elections: This sub-committee formulates a standardized procedure for and supervises the conduction of elections to the Senate and Officer positions. It also rules on the eligibility of nominees and voters, as prescribed in the governing document.


Public Relations

The Public Relations Committee curates and posts new and relevant content to the Staff Senates social media sites in addition to promoting Staff Senate events. This committee also maintains the Tarleton Staff Senate webpage.
