Invest in Achievement
Tuition Assistance: Funds generated through the Texan Excellence Fund are deployed to offset the cost of tuition for first-generation students qualified for enrollment but unable to afford the cost of attendance.
Housing: Texan Excellence Fund contributions support students unable to afford the cost of campus housing. Stipends made possible by TAF allow deserving students to live on campus and thrive as Texans.
Wellness: TAF contributions are utilized to provide essential health and wellness services to deserving students in need.
Nutrition: Students unable to afford the cost of proper nutrition receive support through the Tarleton Academic Fund.
Retention: TAF funds keep Texans enrolled and on track to graduate at Tarleton State by countering the steady rise in the cost of attendance. This is an essential success factor in Tarleton State’s national ranking and profile (6-year graduation rate).
Tarleton State has a strong commitment to first- generation students – those students who are the first to attend college in their family. In fact, nearly 50% of Tarleton State’s student body are first-gen, more than any other major Texas university including The University of Texas at Austin and Texas State. Our own president, Dr. James Hurley, is a first-generation graduate. Tarleton State was even recognized as a First Scholars institution by the Center for First-generation Student Success.
