Industries
Major industry clusters within the urban metroplex of the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington MSA include Aerospace, Healthcare, High Tech Infrastructure, Logistics, Manufacturing, and Technology. The region is also home to 24 Fortune 500 Headquarters, 44 Fortune 1000 Headquarters, 3 Fortune 10 Companies, and 3 Global 25 Companies. The metroplex is also a rapidly growing market desirable to life sciences entrepreneurs. Novartis, Genentech, Alcon, Astra Zeneca, Peloton Therapeutics, Reata Pharmaceuticals, and Taysha Gene Therapies have a significant presence in Dallas-Fort Worth, giving rise to what is now one of the largest life sciences clusters in the nation. Oil and natural gas resources and accompanying industrial clusters are plentiful due to the proximity of the Barnett Shale zone to the region.
Rural counties outside of the MSA are increasingly independent economically, with construction, manufacturing, agriculture, and mining prevailing where the abundance of resources permits. Other top industries include Restaurants and Dining, Education and Hospitals (Local Government), and Computer Systems Design and Related Services.
