Agricultural Value and Expected Annual Loss in NCT

The agriculture value is the dollar value of agricultural production. In contrast, expected annual agriculture value loss is the reported damage to crops and livestock production caused by natural hazards such as flooding, avalanches, drought, heat waves, hurricanes, landslides, etc., in dollars.

In 2021, the top 4 counties with the highest agricultural value were Comanche, Erath, Hamilton, and Hill counties, estimated to have between $43 billion and $10 billion. Also, in 2021, Dallas and Tarrant counties accounted for the least agricultural production value, with about $56 million and $ 82 million, respectively. In 2023, Comanche, Erath, Hamilton, and Hill counties account for the highest agricultural production value in the region, from $11 billion to $ 40 billion. Also, in 2023, Dallas and Tarrant counties account for the least agriculture value with $52 million and $75 million, respectively.

In terms of loss due to natural hazards, Erath, Stephens, Navarro, and Brown counties account for the most loss, from $35 million to $20 million, while Tarrant, Denton, and Dallas account for the least loss, with less than $ 1millon in value in 2021. The 2023 data shows that Erath, Comanche, Navarro,  Bosque, and Hill counties account for the most loss, from $44 million to $ 22 million, while Tarrant, Denton, Dallas, and Collin counties account for the least loss, with less than 1 $1 million in value.
