K-12 Outreach

One of the main goals of TBFS is to provide a field-based learning experience designed to educate and excite K-12 students about the natural world while engaging them in the scientific process. To this end, TBFS has partnered with local school districts (e.g., Alvarado, Brownwood, Comanche, Goldthwaite, Mullen, Priddy ISDs) to host special events throughout the school year. The 5-minute video below does a wonderful job of highlighting Tarleton’s K-12 Science Education Initiative based on field-research and hands-on activities at TBFS.

Citizen Science

Mills County Soil and Water Conservation District sponsors a yearly field day for 5th graders from all Mills County school districts.
