The goal of Educational Talent Search (ETS) is to increase the number of youth from disadvantaged backgrounds who complete high school and enroll in and complete their postsecondary education. The program provide academic, career, and financial counseling and will encourage students to graduate from high school and continue on to complete postsecondary education. ETS publicizes the availability of financial aid and will assist members with the college application process.

Service

ETS provide participants with many opportunities and service including:

  • Academic, financial, career or personal counseling including advises on entry or re-entry to secondary or postsecondary programs
  • Career exploration and aptitude assessment
  • Tutorial service
  • Information on postsecondary education
  • Exposure to college campuses
  • Information on student financial assistance
  • Assistance in completing college admissions and financial aid applications
  • Assistance in preparing for college entrance exams
  • Mentoring programs
  • Special activities for sixth, seventh and eighth graders
  • Workshops for the families of participants.

Eligibility Criteria

Students may qualify for the ETS program based upon:

  • Being a potential first generation college student (parent does not have a bachelor degree)
  • Meeting income guidelines (taxable income and the number dependents in the household)
  • Demonstrating need for academic and/or college preparatory service
  • Attending one of the target schools

Apply to the Educational Talent Search Program

In order to apply to the Educational Talent Search program, please complete our online Student Application. You may also request a printed form from your school counselor if necessary. If you have any questions, please contact your school’s designated coordinator.

Please allow 2-3 weeks for the Talent Search staff to process your application and provide notification of your acceptance status.
